Finding The Way
ADOLESCENTS + TRANSYOUTH
Navigating adolescence today comes with its own unique brand of challenges. Mental health conditions such as depression or anxiety, which may stem from difficult experiences such as bullying, divorce, or even attending a new school, can make these challenges even harder. I have worked with adolescents and transyouth from diverse, multi-cultural backgrounds to replace unhelpful communication (angry outbursts, physical violence, defiant behavior) and maladaptive coping (substance use, self-harm/self-injury, suicidal ideation) with learned skills that foster self-confidence, character, and emotional intelligence.
I also have specialized training and experience to help LGBT youth explore and navigate the medical and emotional aspects of gender dysphoria, body dysmorphia, hormone therapy, and gender-affirming surgery (i.e. "top/bottom surgery").
